The Trip Home
Sunday
the 20th we left St George for the final leg of the trip, almost, ie
we would be stopping that night at Bann Baa before heading to Linda’s parents
place the next day to visit them before going home on Tuesday.
I
stopped at the Nindigully Pub, established in 1864, to show Linda. I stayed at
the campground there last year on the way up to Carnarvon Gorge and had a good
visit at the pub. The pub was closed so a couple of photos are borrowed from
that trip.
We
headed off from there and stopped at Thallon to see the painted silos. They
were really beautiful, well done.
After
lunch in the great park there at Narrabri we went on to the Old Baan Baa School
which is 38 km south of Narrabri. This camp is on Wikicamps. It is owned and
run by Karen and her husband. People have commented about how Karen is such a
welcoming hostess and they weren’t kidding, and can talk. They bought the school and are restoring it
as a labour of love. They have turned one of the school buildings into a guest
house. Another is used for functions. The kindergarten and another building are
used as a museum. They provide showers and toilets and keep it very clean and
welcoming. $5 per night, per person. A great place to stay. We went to the pub
for dinner, and as it was a Sunday night it was a roast. It was OK but a little underwhelming.
Monday
morning we left Baan Baa and went to Linda’s parent place on the Central Coast.
We stayed the night with them and had a good night and bro-n-law, Ross was
there as well. Red claw for dinner which we had picked up from the Julia Creek
butcher. So this morning Tuesday the 22nd August we head home.
It
has been another great trip. Probably a bit adventurous in terms of the amount
of kilometres, ie, a long way to go in just four weeks. But we did have a good
look at everything on the way and on the way back from Lawn Hill NP. We stayed
four days at Lawn Hill which was the main destination and it was beautiful.
Till
next trip, God bless, good health and happy travels.
