The Road to Cloncurry

Thursday the 3rd of August, we left Winton and headed for Cloncurry.

The first town we came to was Kynuna which was tiny. So tiny we could not get a decent coffee but there was the Blue Heeler Hotel which is a bit iconic. People leave their caps as a momento and write stuff on the walls.

We might not have got a coffee but we got great homemade pies.

Then we came to the town of McKinlay. Slightly bigger but its main claim to fame was that the pub there was the one they filmed all the pub scenes from 'Crocodile Dundee'. Had to stop and have a beer.

As we were leaving town there were these two huge road trains fuelling up. One of them beat us out onto the road and as it was three trailers and so long it was flopping all over the road. Most trucks go a little faster than us but this was one was going slower to wait for his mate. As I got closer he called me up on the CB and called me around. He backed off so that he would not flop around. It saved Linda freaking out. Love that CB.
