More From Adel's Grove and Lawn Hill National Park (NP)
Tuesday
the 8th, we got out a bit earlier and hit the walking track in the
NP just after 8am. This morning we are doing the 7km return walk to the Upper
Gorge as well as returning by Indarri Falls for a close up look and a swim.
The
weather is so beautiful and warm without being hot (in my opinion). But it was
good to get out early in the cool of the morning for a long walk.
We
reached the Upper Gorge Lookout and took in the view.
Other
walkers advised to go on a bit further to the cliff edge to see extra parts of
the gorge. We are glad we did as we saw a lot more, including this big mob of
pigs. They were amongst the grove that juts out into the water. There were some
big pigs amongst them. Not a bad zoom on this little canon camera.
The
walk then took us beside the river where the banks were thick with all these
pandannas palms and the walk through was really nice. As we came to clearings
we got more views of the river. The water is such a jade colour because of magnesium that is in the water. If the water looks dusty at times it is calcium. The river is not stagnant at all.
At
Indarri Falls I could not resist a swim.
It
was a great mornings walk and we returned to the car park for something to eat
before going on the 12 midday cruise that we had booked the day before. The
boat has an electric motor and is powered by 8 X 100 watt solar panels with
four deep cycle house batteries.
We
went up the gorge with Alex the guide and skipper. The red rock walls were
beautiful and reminded me a lot of Katherine Gorge.
There
is a reflection of the sun off the water in these shots.
Sizeable
fresh water croc sunning himself.
Four million litres of water per hour comes over the Indarri Falls.
I
love the divine landscape gardener they have working here.
Then
back to camp. I did some blogging and by this time I was low on battery power
on the computer. I was able to plug in to power at the deck of the dining area
at Adel’s Grove so that was handy. Then it was time for the obligatory
afternoon swim. Another great day.
