Gregory Free Camp

Thursday morning the 10th we left Adel’s Grove to head back to the little town of Gregory. The grader had been working on the road so apart from ten kilometres of very rough road we had a good run. We did the trip in a little under two hours this time, compared with the two and a half hours on the way out.

When we arrived at Gregory we went straight down to the river campground which is a free camp. As a note to self, I did not know at the time that you could get fresh filtered water up top at the dusty campground near the river. So we were having to be a bit tight with water as I did not think there was fresh water around. I should have asked eh! Not to worry we will make do with river water and our 12 volt shower.
We were able to get a spot right on the river which we were happy with, albeit a bit of a squeeze. A spring feeds the Gregory River and the water is very clear and beautiful. Here are photos that show you our setting for the next couple of days.

We had a good fire that first night. Can't help myself, love playing with fire.

Now a video to really capture it properly.
I commented previously about the town of Gregory being so tiny that there was a café and a pub and that was it. That is an injustice as there is about six or seven houses in the town as well and a population of about 80. Of course the grey nomad population swells the numbers hugely.
So many vans and RVs go through the town.

Being on the river here is a beaut spot. People float down past your van and they start off from way up further and the comments tend to go back and forth. It 's a lot of fun. Unfortunately I did not capture a good video of that. I got Linda to take this though.
I seem to have become a bird watcher over recent years. I love seeing these beautiful little birds in the wild. I found these red finches here at Gregory just beautiful.

Not sure what this one is called but I will find out.

Same for these ones.
